The long lifespan and overall reliability is secured by a 1.7 litre 8V engine. This engine demands low maintenance and keeps the costs down. An LPG modification is a further option. A VAZ 5-speed manual transmission allows operability in difficult conditions. A mechanically locking inter axle differential and an additional 2-speed low range gearbox are necessary for great off-road capability.
